Former Nigerian international, Etim Esin has revealed that the Super Eagles inability to beat Lesotho and Zimbabwe may later haunt the team in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Recall that Nigeria have managed just two points from possible six points after drawing Lesotho and Zimbabwe respectively.

Esin in a chat with , stated that the Super Eagles started the World Cup qualifying campaign on a slow start.

“The Super Eagles started on a very wrong note by drawing Lesotho and Zimbabwe 1-1 respectively. Everything is kust upside down rightly with our football.

“On paper, this is just six points for Nigeria but the team has failed to capitalise on the two games. Imagine football that gives Nigerians joy, is no longer the same again.”

The Super Eagles have now amassed two points from two games.

Jose Peseiro’s side will host the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their next game in the qualifiers, in June 2024.
