Zimbabwe Warriors will wear black armbands in their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and Nigeria’s Super Eagles to honour the passing of former coach Rahman Gumbo.

The Zimbabwe Football Association made this known on their X handle.

Gumbo died on Friday, November 10, 2023, in Botswana after a suspected heart attack.

The former Zimbabwe midfielder died at the age of 59.

He was initially appointed to the managerial position of the Warriors in 2005, but was sacked following a 3–0 home loss against Nigeria.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Gumbo and four children.
