Date:

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Taminu Turaki, alongside other leaders of the party, on Saturday, paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Others in the entourage of the PDP National Chairman include former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; Deputy National Chairman, Taofeek Arapaja; former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang; Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello, among others.

They were welcomed by the State Chairman of the party, Hon Abayomi Tella, and other top leaders of the party in Ogun state.

The PDP leaders thereafter proceeded to have a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo

Tribune Online could not immediately confirm the purpose of the visit as of the time of filing this report. However, the visit is coming amidst internal wranglings in the opposition party and wave of defections from the party to the ruling All progressives Congress (APC).

Tribune Online reports that the Rivers State Governor, Similanayi Fubara, recently dumped the PDP and defected to the APC, citing failure of the party to protect him. Likewise, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, also resigned his membership of the PDP and recently picked the membership card and subsequently of governorship ticket of Accord Party ahead of the August 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
