A former deputy governor in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Governor of the state in the 2026 election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, Omisore said, “After deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
According to the statement, the formal declaration will hold on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, at the Osun State APC Secretariat, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
He noted that the journey is guided by the theme, “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”
Omisore expressed confidence in the collective capacity of Osun people to rebuild the state, saying, “I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission, it is a collective one.”
The former senator also called on supporters and party members to join him in what he described as a shared vision for renewal.
“I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he added.
Omisore contested in previous elections held in Osun but lost the bid to become governor of the state.
He had also represented Osun East from 2003 to 2011 in the Senate.
