Arahah Farmers market opens in Abuja, to provide farm produce at cheap prices

The maiden edition of the Arahah Farmers market, jointly organized by Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and Women Arise Development and Humanitarian Initiative (WADHI) is set to hold on the 14th to 16th of December 2020.

The market would provide high-quality, affordable produce to low and middle-income residents of Abuja and Environs , help community MSMEs scale-up their businesses especially women’s owned or led businesses and act as community-supported certified farmers’ market for cottage industry commodities and local products.

According to Director General of ACCI, Victoria Akai, Arahah Farmers Market is where farmers, especially women producers and sellers can come to sell things at a discounted rate adding that the development would provide a ready market to sell their produce to both food processors and consumers.

Also speaking on the Arahah Market Project , the Convener of WADHI, Esther Eghobamien-Mshelia, said what makes the Arahah Market stand out among other markets in the FCT is that it is one market that will bring farmers and primary producers directly in contact with the producers and farmers will also make income ,it will give city dwellers access to condiments and food items that perishes awey in the rural areas because of logistics and transport and also give city people oppourtunity to get direct and fresh produce from the farms.

Arahah Farmer’s Market” will hold at the Market Site, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lugbe, Airport Road from 10.00a.m daily
