Against the backdrop of growing insecurity in some parts of the country, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, yesterday tasked the service chiefs to intensify the battle against terrorists and other criminal elements that threaten the peace and tranquillity of several communities.
He contended that it is imperative to up the onslaught against the activities of bandits and other terrorists threatening the security and peace of the nation.
In a statement issued in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, who hitherto represented Obokun State Constituency in Osun House of Assembly, said there was no doubt that the security agencies were doing everything possible to deal with the situation, but added that more needed to be done to stop the killings in parts of the country.
According to him, there is concern over the spate of killings by bandits in Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, and Niger states, stressing that heads of security agencies must take the bull by the horns and go hard on those involved in the killings and their sponsors.
This is even Timi Frank urged President Bola Tinubu to reshuffle security chiefs amid renewed attacks
The activist and former APC spokesman canvassed a major review of the nation’s security leadership following renewed attacks and killings in several parts of the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, Frank described the continued violence as a national tragedy that demanded urgent executive attention.
He cited recent reports of soldiers killed in Borno State as evidence of persistent security lapses, and called for stronger accountability in defence operations.
Frank, who currently represents the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) as Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, also acknowledged growing international concern about Nigeria’s security situation.
He commended U.S. President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz for their recent comments highlighting the need for improved protection of civilians and human rights in Nigeria.
