Southern Kaduna professors ask Sen Katung to dump PDP for APC

Date:

The Forum of Southern Kaduna Professors has urged the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Zone, Sunday Marshall Katung, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the interest of his constituents.

Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Sunday, the Forum’s leader, Professor John Laah, said Senator Katung should align with President Bola Tinubu and the APC-led Federal Government to ensure greater access to development opportunities for the zone.
“For us to achieve the best for Southern Kaduna, it is good for the senator to align very well with the party that can help deliver the dividends of democracy,” Laah said. “We felt that teaming up with the APC, given the generosity of President Tinubu towards Southern Kaduna — doing what has never happened before, such as the establishment of the Federal University and the Federal Medical Centre — is the right thing to do.”

He added that the Forum had been in consultations and reached a unanimous agreement that it was time for Senator Katung to work with the President to attract better infrastructure and investment to the area.

According to Laah, while the senator has performed creditably, remaining in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could limit his impact due to what he described as “lack of proper structure and leadership” within the party.
“We do not want the senator to get to this level of achievement and then remain hanging on a tree,” he said. “Sincerely speaking, it is time for the senator to move to the APC.”

Professor Laah further disclosed that the Forum intends to mobilise support for Senator Katung’s second-term bid, citing his performance and commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna.
