After a 3-year hiatus following 2021’s Rum & Boogie album release, award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Peruzzi returns with his fourth studio album, Sabali.
Weaving the album around the theme of ‘perseverance’, Sabali draws its title from the Bambara word for “calm endurance,” a popular West African mantra that embodies his message on the album.
Known as the “songwriter’s songwriter”, with a decade of acclaimed hits and credits for Davido, Burna Boy, and more, Peruzzi channels the lessons of time and introspection into Sabal: a self-assured statement from an artiste who weathered doubt, silence, and industry turbulence to emerge with clarity, grace, and groove.
Following the dual brilliance of Rum & Boogie and Heartwork, Sabali emerges as a fusion of soulful R&B, Afrobeats, and Afro-fusion with new composure. The journey begins with lead single “Die It”, a reflective yet confident opener that feels like a victory lap on his own terms.
From there, Sabali moves through love (“You” feat. Kemuel, “Legalise”), swagger (“Nuff Respect” feat. Jesse Jagz), and pure joy (“Time of My Life” feat. Esoterica).
Standout moments include The Cavemen bringing highlife warmth to “Mad Oh”, “Apala Drill” (feat. Davido) delivers an uptempo spark. Veteran Timaya added flavour to “ANTR (A Night to Remember)”, the original DMW crew reunite on “Perfect Situation” alongside Dremo and Mayorkun.
“Sabali is the sound of holding steady when the world won’t stop shaking,” says Peruzzi. “It’s my peace. My patience. My power,” Peruzzi said.
He also enlists first-time collaborators such as Jeriq, Terri, Bella Shmurda, Zlatan, and Esoterica to help expand the album’s rich sonic diversity, without losing its core.
