Fayemi to discuss Africa’s global direction

A former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has been named speaker at the annual lecture of the Society for International Relations Awareness, holding  on Wednesday, October 18, in Abuja.

A statement on Sunday by his media office said Fayemi would give insights into how the African continent can navigate turbulence and take its rightful place in the world.

The theme of the lecture is: ‘Africa, in the turbulence of a world in search of direction.’

“The lecture is both timely and significant as it addresses the evolving dynamics that the continent faces in an ever-changing global landscape.

“Dr Fayemi, who is currently a visiting professor at the School of Global Affairs, Kings College, London, is expected to speak on the challenges and opportunities facing Africa in the current global context. He will also share his insights into how the continent can navigate the turbulence of the world and find its place,” the statement read partly.

According to the statement, the Chief of Staff to the African Union Chairman, Ambassador John Shinkaiye, is the Guest of Honour. Among the discussants are Prof. Jibrin Ibrahim, and  Prof. Freedom Onuoha.

“The Chairperson of the event is former OAU Assistant Secretary, General Political Affairs, and former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Eritrea, Ambassador Brownson Dede.”
