The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed claims of a kidnapping incident at River Park Estate, Abuja, describing it as fake news.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh in a statement posted on the command’s X account late Saturday, a resident named Nnandi Agu from Games Village had staged his own kidnapping in an attempt to defraud his brother residing in the mentioned Estate.

Adeh confirmed that the suspect is in police custody and stated, “The FCT police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the early hours of today (yesterday) and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.

“One Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.

“The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.
